Clinical Consultation for Therapists Who Work With Couples
If you work with couples — or want to — some of these questions may sound familiar:
- Do you find yourself getting "stuck" when working with couples?
- Do you try to use tools to help couples but still find yourself almost getting "run over" when they start getting "into it" in session?
- While in session, do you sometimes find yourself not knowing what to ask next, or what you should be focusing on?
- Does it sometimes feel like there is so much happening that it almost feels like too much to track?
- Is there a couple you feel you've tried everything with, but can't seem to make any progress?
- Do you wish there was a way to clearly see potential future issues for a couple and help prevent those issues before they happen?
- Do you wish you could feel more confident when doing couples work?
- Or maybe you'd like to work with couples in the future and are looking for a grounded, practical framework that actually makes sense of what's happening in the room?
Believe it or not, a lot of therapists offer couples or marriage therapy to their clients but absolutely dread it. It's much harder and very different than working with individuals. If you don't have a clear understanding of the actual dynamics of relationships, it becomes very easy to lose control of the room. So much can happen so fast that it can be very confusing and become very discouraging.
If any of this resonates with you, I can help.
There is a big difference between understanding relationship therapy and understanding relationships.
A way of seeing, not just another model
This isn't just about learning another relationship therapy model.
I'm offering to teach and guide you by helping you understand relationships themselves, which gives you the freedom to use whatever therapeutic techniques you believe fits best. There is a big difference between understanding relationship therapy and understanding relationships.
This is about having you feel confident in the room because you have total certainty in what you're doing, through a framework that is applicable to any couple that walks through the door. Not as a technique. As a way of seeing.
And if you're in a relationship, don't be surprised if this changes how you view what you and your partner do inside it.
Not as a technique. As a way of seeing.
Here's how it works
The first step is a free 30-minute introductory call. This isn't a consultation. It's a conversation. We can get a feel for each other, and I'll share how I think about couples work and the framework I use. You'll get a sense of whether my approach resonates with how you think.
From there, if it feels like a good fit, all consultation calls are 60 minutes. The first one is also completely free, so bring as many cases as you want. I'm that confident that I can help you with whatever couple(s) you're working with.
You bring what you're working with, the dynamics you're seeing, what you've tried, where you're getting stuck, and we work through it together. I'll share how I'd be thinking about that couple: what I'd be tracking, what I'd focus on, what I think is actually happening underneath what's being presented. You leave with a clearer framework for that specific case and, over time, a way of understanding couples that transfers to every room you walk into.
After that, all consultation calls are $100.
I offer this service on an as-needed basis. There's no ongoing commitment. You reach out when you need it.
I'm that confident that I can help you with whatever couple(s) you're working with.
